The Government is taking steps to protect Jamaica’s image following yesterday’s incident in which a car with six Canadian tourists was hit by gunshots in Kingston.
The tourists were travelling from Montego Bay.
According to the minister with responsibility for information, Daryl Vaz, one of the passengers was injured by shattered galas from the car.
He says the passenger was treated at Kingston Public Hospital and released.
Mr. Vaz says the Government is working to contain any possible fallout from the incident.
The six tourists were safely returned to their hotel in Montego Bay by helicopter last night.
Earlier, they were met by Prime Minister Bruce Golding and officials of the Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB).
The Prime Minister has sought to assure the tourists that the Government will do everything to ensure their comfort until they leave the island on Saturday.

Do you praise moves like this from the P.M? No thats not good enough ,learn fi dance a yard before you go abroad, take care and steps to protect the jamaican citezens and you would not have to be caught up in a scenario like this .i knew it was going to boil down to something like this. The officials of jamaica are all worthless to me ,how do you feel good to know the citezens of your country are all living in fear. Its going to get worse because none of them have the least amount of vision for their own lives just imagine the country. You people need to start taking a stand ,especially the graduates from the universities start forming alliances or activist group start talking, a matter of fact if we remain conscious this forum can play a vital roll.
